The history of the maze

Since 2006, Verger Labonté has created mazes in the cornfield. This activity is a way to have fun, enjoy nature, and learn something new. Each year, the theme and layout of the maze changes to provide new challenges. In addition, a donation is made to humanitarian organizations in order to help the less fortunate on the planet.

In 2010, everyone was invited to have fun in the corn and giant sunflower maze l (over 12 feet high), as well as in the forest alongside, to discover the history of cowboys and indians. A portion of the money collected was donated to fund the studies of youg children in Tanzania, and the rest will be donated in 2011-2012.

In 2009, the theme to discover was the mysteries of Vietnam. An amount of $7200 was collected. A portion of this money was used to finance young students in Tanzania and support their families so that they may pursue their studies. The majority of the money was given to the Barka foundation during a marathon in New York in November 2101. The Barka foundation helps a village in Burkina Faso by providing them with access to clean drinking water. For more information, go to http://barkafoundation.org/

In 2008, our visitors had the pleasure of discovering  the mysteries of Peru. The $6500 collected went two charities helping children in Peru living in extreme poverty. Aldea Yanapay (www.aldeayanapay.org), located in Cuzco, purchased equipment for their new cultural centre which provides teenagers with a safe place for different activities. Expand Peru (www.expandperu.org) , located in Huancayo, hired two teachers for a year to work with 35 less fortunate children in their child assistance center. The objective of these organizations is to improve the quality of life for children by offering them a proper growth environment.

In 2007, visitors enjoyed the theme of courageous pirates. The $6000 collected allowed 12 students chosen by local high schools to live the Corsaro experience (www.viiif.net/corsaro) on lake Champlain during the week of July 13, 2008. Many thanks to the local participating high schools: École secondaire du Chêne Bleu, École secondaire Soulanges, École secondaire de la Cité des Jeunes, and McDonald high.

In 2006, we presented the many faces Africa, all while collecting $5200 for the village of Hangoumé, Togo. This money was used to dig a well, pay the salaries of two teachers and help the startup of some ten small businesses by providing money through micro credit.

In 2010, we invite you to have fun in the 12-foot corn and sunflower mazes and in the forest. Come and discover the Intriguews of India! The money collected will go to different humanitarian organizations.
